Record-Setting Attendance GIFA 2011

Oct. 6, 2011
What did more than 79,000 visitors discover? A sampling of exhibitors presentations illustrates what new ideas emerged for metalcasters to improve their operations.

Over 80 countries were represented — by visitors and exhibitors – at GIFA 2011 and its three concurrent events (METEC, THERMPROCESS, and NEWCAST) late in June. According to the organizers, 98% of the attendees reported that they were pleased with their participation, and 97% reported that they accomplished their golals at the four trade shows.

Of those attendees surveyed following the show’s conclusion, 80% plan to make capital-equipment investments over the next two years, and they expressed confidence that by attending GIFA, Metec, Thermprocess, and Newcast, they are prepared to make those crucial decisions.

“After overcoming the economic crisis, this global meeting of the metallurgy sectors in 2011 has proven once again to be an efficient platform for making new contacts,” stated Dr. Gutmann Habig, general manager of the German Engieering Federation. “Current trends were discussed at a very high level, and the trade fairs also served as marketplaces for preparing and concluding business deals. Investments in cuttingedge technologies are imminent in our companies.”
