Palmer Wins No-Bake Expansion Contract

Aug. 5, 2013
Estimated over $1 million Defense/munitions manufacturing   Contract covers layout, engineering, environmental consulting, integration, installation

Palmer Manufacturing & Supply Inc. recently landed a contract from Industria Militar de Colombia – Indumil -to expand one of its four foundries in that country. The Springfield, Ohio-based equipment builder recently opened a South American engineering and sales office to support its expansion in the region.

According to Palmer, the Indumil assignment involves new no-bake molding machinery and a fully integrated sand-reclamation system. It estimated the project at more than $1 million.

Indumil is a government-owned and -operated manufacturer of weapons and munitions, some of which are supplied for civilian use.

Specifically, Palmer will supply high-speed sand mixers, sand-reclamation equipment, compaction tables, pneumatic transporters, powder feeders, mold spray coating equipment, a magnetic separator, heater/cooler/classifier, a mold handler, a bucket elevator, and cooling towers.

In addition, Palmer will engineer the new equipment and develop a new foundry layout, provide environmental consulting to Indumil, install the new equipment, and integrate the additions with the current operation.

The entire project is scheduled for completion in November.

“Palmer is recognized globally for our innovative and heavy-duty equipment that is easy to maintain and operate,” company president Jack Palmer stated. “We were pleased to be awarded this contract by Indumil, based on our technical expertise and experience in complete no-bake foundry systems and engineering.”
