Automated Loading for Chemical Analysis

Mechanized, programmable operation for unattended chemical analysis. Shuttle10 Loader — a single carousel that holds 10 samples Shuttle60 Loader — six stackable carousels that hold 10 samples each

LECO’s CS844 Series carbon/sulfur analyzer is available now with optional shuttle loaders, providing seamless, automated sequential or non-sequential processing of pre-weighed samples of inorganic materials, such as steels, ores, and finished metals. Customers can choose either the Shuttle10 Loader, which features a single carousel that holds 10 samples, or the Shuttle60 Loader, which features six stackable carousels that hold 10 samples each.

The CS844 is an elemental analyzer designed for wide-range measurement of carbon and sulfur content of metals, ores, ceramics, and other inorganic materials using the combustion technique. The proprietary MS Windows®-based software, coupled with a boom-mounted touch interface, gives users full access to instrument control, analysis settings, diagnostics, reporting, and more—without sacrificing valuable bench space.

With a robust design that minimizes downtime, both the Shuttle10 Loader and Shuttle60 Loader offer a solution for high-throughput laboratories that require unattended analyses. Dependable stepper motors with low-maintenance rails are used to improve system reliability, and to alleviate the need for manual adjustments. Windows®-based software simplifies the alignment procedure and helps to ensure the system’s long-term stability.

The new shuttle loaders are supported by an updated version of LECO’s exclusive on-board software platform known as Cornerstone®. Launched last in 2011, Cornerstone is optimized for use with a touch-screen monitor mounted onto the front of the CS844 by a fully adjustable, six-axis boom. By having immediate control of all instrument functionality right at the instrument, the user benefits from increased usability, improved ergonomics, and a decrease in the cost-per-analysis.
