PE Investor Buys Aluminum Diecaster

Feb. 13, 2025
Gibbs Die Casting will continue under the existing management after a private transaction.

Gibbs Die Casting Corp., Henderson, KY, has been purchased by Architect Equity, which signaled its intention to retain the current leadership team for the aluminum parts producer. Neither the buyer, a Los Angeles-based private equity firm, nor the seller Koch Enterprises, would reveal the terms of the acquisition.

“The Gibbs team is excited for the partnership with Architect Equity,” stated CEO Greg Risch. “They are a very experienced team with a successful track record in investing and operating automotive and industrial-oriented businesses. Of upmost importance is that Gibbs will continue to be known as a leading, value-added partner to its customers and an important employer and contributor to the local community.”

Along with Risch, the management team includes chief commercial officer Jeff Moyer, chief operating officer Harvey Dewan, and chief financial officer John Bush.

Gibbs Die Casting produces aluminum components that it supplies to industrial and automotive Tier One businesses and OEMs, including parts for internal combustion and EV driveline, powertrain, and transmission parts. Heavy and light industrial machinery manufacturers are among its wider customer base.

In addition to vertical and horizontal high-pressure diecasting, Gibbs offers product engineering, tool and die production, and casting machining and component assembly. It has about 800 workers at its Henderson manufacturing operation.

“The leadership team of Gibbs has a significant amount of domain knowledge from operating in the industry over an extensive period of time, which is a real differentiator when you are a supplier of mission critical products that serve major automotive and industrial customers,” stated Jack Hall, Architect Equity managing director of portfolio operations.

“Architect Equity looks forward to supporting Gibbs and the value it continues to provide its customers,” he added.
