Additive manufacturing developer STRATASYS collaborated with AM software specialist Materialise to launch a new platform they claim will accelerate production of investment casting master patterns. The Stratasys Neo Build Processor for Investment Casting was developed for Stratasys Neo450 and Neo800 stereolithography printers – and according to the developers achieve up to 50% faster file processing and significantly improved print speeds, to enhance the 3D-printing workflow for prototyping and manufacturing.
The Materialise NxG Build Processor is a configurable software that converts large and complex 3D design files into 3DP programs.
The partners claim that 3D-printing master patterns can reduce investment casting production time from weeks to days, and the means to produce complex designs quickly (designs that have been unachievable with conventional techniques) presents new possibilities for innovation in part design and functionality, specifically with short-run production.
This is stated to be particularly advantageous for manufacturers in aerospace, automotive, and industrial markets, where speed, precision, and cost-effectiveness may be decisive factors.
“This new build processor advances our mission to provide faster, more efficient solutions for producing high-quality master patterns,” stated Stratasys’ Rani Hagag, chief health care and consumer business officer.
