Recently COLD JET unveiled the RE-CO2 320 V2 unit for dry ice production – a compact, add-on system that neatly integrates with manufacturers’ existing equipment and captures the exhausted CO2 gas and turning it back into dry ice at significantly reduced costs. The process is also a step forward in “sustainability,” according to the developer.
Cold Jet develops dry-ice blasting systems that it explains are “a more effective and sustainable alternative for general cleaning than other methods, such as abrasive, soda, and sandblasting.” Dry-ice blasting (aka dry-ice cleaning) machines use recycled solid carbon dioxide (CO2) pellets or MicroParticles that are blasted at supersonic speeds and sublimate on impact, lifting dirt and contaminants off the underlying substrate.
This the RE-CO2 320 V2 unit technology builds on Cold Jet's expertise in CO2 recovery, incorporating technology acquired via its takeover of Triventek. Cold Jet's engineers reportedly have improved on this technology, incorporating features for:
- Boosted efficiency: The RE-CO2 320 V2 gets more dry ice volume out of every ounce of CO2, potentially cutting liquid CO2 costs in half.
- Sustainability: The new system prioritizes environmental impact by using less refrigeration, a low-GWP refrigerant (R452A), and optimized energy consumption.
- Remote management: Convenient troubleshooting, data analysis for proactive maintenance, and real-time production monitoring.
- Simplified operation: The RE-CO2 320 V2 features a simplified hose connection, a small frame for easy transportation, and top-mounted connections for minimized hose length.
- Increased uptime: Automatic restart functions minimize downtime, ensuring high availability.
- Enhanced reliability: Updated VFD motor and a low-voltage electrical system to improve reliability and simplify maintenance.
- Improved safety: The RE-CO2 320 V2 prioritizes safety with a redesigned buffer tank cover and UL-approved electrical cabinet.
"The RE-CO2 320 V2 is a revolution in CO2 recovery," stated Dennis Hjort, SVP Global DIMS. "This system not only boosts dry ice production efficiency, but also sets a new standard for sustainability. With the RE-CO2 320 V2, we're leading the way to a cleaner and greener environment in the world of dry ice."
