Messe Düsseldorf reports that its recently concluded quartet of events – GIFA, METEC, THERMPROCESS, and NEWCAST – drew 63,300 visitors from 114 countries during their June 12-16 run, in Düsseldorf, Germany. Among those visitors, the organizer noted that 58% were individuals with “decision-making authority.” The 2,200 exhibitors at the four related events, collectively branded as the Bright World of Metals, came from 56 countries, highlighting the importance of these trade events to global manufacturers and their activities.
Of the four events, GIFA is the international trade fair for foundry and diecasting technologies; METEC addresses comparable issues for primary steelmaking; and THERMPROCESS provides technological perspective on industrial thermal processing. NEWCAST is a trade venue for designers and manufacturers of engineered components to exhibit their products and capabilities.
“GIFA, METEC, THERMPROCESS and NEWCAST are covering almost the entire international market,” observed Messe Düsseldorf director Malte Seifert. “The demand for European metallurgy and foundry technology is especially high overseas – particularly in India, the U.S., and China. This is also reflected by the international ranking of countries: India and the growth market Turkey rank first – followed by Italy, China, and France.”
Messe Düsseldorf confirmed that the four events will be restaged in 2027, with a firm schedule to be announced in the future.
Relatedly, the organizer announced plans to stage GIFA Mexico, October 16-18, 2024 in Mexico City. Messe Düsseldorf will plans to offer Mexican and regional companies “a new platform for the global metallurgy and foundry industry, but also (to) give international exhibitors and industry experts a unique opportunity to build their business relations and gain a foothold on the emerging Mexican market. The new event will be presented as a part of the already-established FundiExpo event, and is planned to be scheduled every two years.
“Mexico is a booming international location offering vast growth potential especially for the foundry industry. This is why we are consistently expanding Messe Düsseldorf’s ‘Metallurgy & Foundry Technology’ portfolio to include GIFA Mexico, following METEC India (2004), GIFA and METEC Southeast Asia (2022), GIFA and METEC Middle East Asia (2023), GIFA and METEC Indonesia (2023.) GIFA Mexico is the next milestone,” according to Seifert.
