Wisconsin Aluminum Foundry in Manitowoc, WI, purchased ATEK Metal Technologies, New Hampton, IA, growing the organization and extending its downstream reach. WAF manufacturers aluminum and copper-alloy castings, while ATEK specializes in low-pressure permanent and semi-permanent mold aluminum castings.
The value of the private transaction was not announced.
“Not only is the team at ATEK skilled and dedicated, but the products it makes complement our current offerings, making this a natural fit,” according to WAF CEO Sachin Shivaram. “Ultimately, we are focused on establishing the northern Midwest as the place for high-quality aluminum castings.”
Since 2021 WAF has acquired DEE Inc., Crookston, MN; Manitowoc Pattern & Machining, Manitowoc, WI; and Wabash Castings in Wabash, IN. It also initiated a $25-million expansion to its permanent-mold casting capacity for tilt/static and low-pressure pouring.
Wisconsin Aluminum Foundry uses green-sand, air-set, and permanent mold casting and low-pressure molding to pour nonferrous castings for automotive, agriculture and construction, commercial vehicles, defense, medical, and railroad manufacturing, among others.
ATEK’s markets include motorsports, recreation, transportation, and general industry customers.
According to Mark Osmanski, CEO of ATEK Companies, “Making the decision to sell ATEK was not an easy one but after meeting with WAF leadership it was clear that the company and team would be in good hands. We couldn’t ask for a better company to take ownership.”
“The demand for American made products continues to grow and this is another step forward in WAF’s strategy to expand our high-quality aluminum casting capabilities,” Shivaram stated. “The scale, sophistication, and breadth of services we can offer our customers is unmatched by anything else in the marketplace. We are building something truly remarkable.”
