Magellan Aerospace Corp. has entered into new long-term agreements with Pratt & Whitney, renewing current supply deals for complex castings used several current and new aircraft engine programs. Magellan, which supplies complex parts and systems for commercial and defense aerospace manufacturers, did not announce the term of the new agreements nor its forecast value.
The castings will be produced at Magellan’s Haley, Ont., and Glendale, AZ, foundries.
The Ontario plant specializes in producing precision magnesium and aluminum sand castings that are fully machined and assembled at other Magellan locations. Sample products include engine inlet, fan and intermediate cases, engine accessory gearboxes and subsystem housings, APU gearboxes, and helicopter transmission housings. The plant is certified to AS9100, ISO9001, and ISO14001.
The Arizona plant also casts complex aluminum and magnesium parts, such as housing covers for engine inlets, accessory gearbox housings and covers, and manifold and pump housings.
According to Magellan, the renewal of the agreements confirms a more than five-decade supplier-customer relationship it has with Pratt & Whitney.
“These agreements mark a major milestone for our companies, leveraging our expertise and innovations to achieve shared success,” stated Magellan’s Haydn Martin, vice president, Business Development, Marketing and Contracts.
