Allison Transmission Holdings Inc. has purchased longtime supplier Walker Die Casting, Lewisburg, TN, noting the castings it supplies are important components of the heavy-duty truck automatic transmission systems it manufactures. Together with a separately acquired tooling and die manufacturer, Allison indicated its purchases total $103 million.
The other company is C&R Tool and Engineering, Muscle Shoals, AL.
“We are delighted to announce the acquisitions of Walker Die Casting and C&R Tool and Engineering,” stated Allison Transmission president and CEO David S. Graziosi. “Walker’s products are a critical component in the manufacture and quality of our on-highway transmissions. We plan to grow the business and continue the heritage established by Robert Walker in 1958.”
Family-owned Walker Die Casting reportedly melts and pours up to 700,000 lbs./day of aluminum, supplying 37 diecasting machines. Its products for automotive, truck, and other markets include transmission housings and covers, transfer cases, converter housings, oil, air and water pump housings, and numerous others.
Both companies will continue to operate in their respective locations, according to an announcement.
