ALBARRIE Meteor spark-resistant filter bags extend performance life with a woven basalt reinforcement layer designed to withstand harsh environments of foundries and steel mills. This distinctive combines a basalt scrim with standard filtration fibers, such as P84®, PPS or Poly-Ox, to suit custom application needs and deliver superior filter bag performance.
As a replacement for bags made of polyester, polyester membrane, aromatic polyamide (Aramid) or Aramid membrane, the Meteor bags provide superior spark-, chemical-, and abrasion resistance, and withstand temperatures from 375° to 500°F (190° to 260°C), with reliable mechanical stability.
The Meteor’s design also offers mechanical stability to contain toxic dust resulting from melting operations. For one U.S. customer, a customized Meteor filter bag design with a basalt scrim and P84 fiber, and with a weight of 27 oz./yd2, was tested in the baghouse attached to an electric-arc furnace to capture fumes from the fourth hole and furnace canopy. Running 24 hours/day, the product successfully collected the dust from 1 million acfm of air with a normal temperature of 175-230°F.
