ASTECH INC. has introduced a new class of alloyed chain links for blasting machinery, to promote longer service life and reduce material and service cost. Astech manufactures high-performance replacement parts for blasting operations in metalcasting and other industries. It produces replacement parts are blast-cleaning machines produced by Wheelabrator, Pangborn, BCP, Goff, and others.
The Michigan company also operates a steel foundry specializing in production of castings for heat, wear, and corrosion resistance. Its products are cast in a wide variety of alloys, including manganese steel, carbon steel, low-alloy steel, stainless steel, tool steels, high-chromium white irons, and many nickel based alloys.
Astech developed a new chemistry to prolong the service of links that carry products through blasting cabinets. “Longer lasting links mean less down time spent replacing links as well as reduced replacement costs,” according to the company. Made of manganese steel, the new links will provide greater durability and wear-resistance than links made from carbon steel, providing greater service life than standard links. The products are heat-treated for durability and bend-tested at 45°, so they will not break the flight attachment.
”Every foundry today is on alert to ensure manufacturing efficiencies are in place at all levels. Providing replacement links that last longer is an easy fix for any foundry,” stated Alan Bukach, Astech Inc. president. “Our expertise as a foundry puts us in an ideal testing environment.”
