Inspecting CGI Cylinder Heads at Tupy

The Joinville foundry in Brazil has started series production of cylinder heads for a new diesel engine manufactured by MTU Friedrichshafen GmbH. Tour the finished product inspection process here.

At its iron foundry in Joinville, Santa Catarina, Brazil, Tupy recently started series production of compacted graphite iron cylinder heads for the new Series 2000 diesel engine produced by MTU Friedrichshafen GmbH. The engine builder is a subsidiary of Rolls-Royce Power Systems AG, which is co-owned by Rolls-Royce Plc and Daimler AG.

The engines have been redesigned for greater fuel economy and lower lifecycle costs, helping to achieve compliance with EPA 4I requirements. 

An automated inspection line reviews the finished cylinder heads.
