August 24, 2006 -- Intermet Corp.'s PCPC Group Stevensville, MI, plant has been honored by Delphi Corp. with its “Best Supplier” Award for supplying cast-metal components "with an unquestionable commitment to customer service."
It is the second straight year that Stevensville has earned the award. Intermet's Columbus (GA) Foundry -- part of the company's Domestic Ferrous Group -- also earned the Delphi Best Supplier Award for 2006.
Stevensville manufactures aluminum front steering knuckles, which are part of the assembly of various mid-sized cars and minivans. The Pressure-Counter-Pressure Casting (PCPC) process was developed for production of safety-critical aluminum chassis components.
Don Hays, president of Intermet’s PCPC group, stated: "Delphi is an industry leader, supplying advanced products that are vital to the safety and performance of vehicles manufactured around the world. We are thrilled to be given this award, which underscores our total commitment to quality and service for all customers."
Delphi noted that Stevensville was very responsive to their needs, "pro-actively communicating issues as well as having a continuous-improvement focus."
