Bodycote in New 15-Year Contract with Rolls-Royce

June 20, 2018
Thermal treatment will support expansion of commercial-jet engine programs

Heat-treating and isostatic pressing specialist Bodycote plc earned a 15-year contract for thermal processing services with Rolls-Royce Civil Aerospace. The supplier estimated the contract would generate revenues of $215 million over the term.

The agreement is designed to support the expansion of Rolls-Royce’s commercial aircraft engine programs, including the Trent XWB, Trent 1000, Trent 7000, Trent 700, and Trent 900.

The thermal processing services will include specialized vacuum heat treatment and hot isostatic pressing (HIP), supporting Rolls’ turbine blade casting operations in Derby and Rotherham, England.

Earlier this year Bodycote entered into a long-term agreement to supply manufacturing services to aerospace manufacturing group Safran, including thermal spray coatings, electron-beam welding, hot-isostatic pressing, and heat treatment.

Bodycote operates over 180 accredited operations in 23 countries, performing commercial heat treating and specialized processes, including hot isostatic pressing.
