Franklin Precision Castings installed a new CNC horizontal machine, to process a wider range of sizes and quantities, and to improve casting delivery times.

Franklin Precision Castings, the Pennsylvania investment caster, reports it installed a new horizontal machining center to process a wider range of sizes and quantities, and to improve casting delivery times. It is the fifth CNC machine installed there, and the first horizontal machine.

The DN Solutions HC 400 II machine has a 40-tool magazine and 7,500 RMP spindle. It allows the foundry to finish larger castings, as well as more pieces capacity, with dual pallets for simultaneous loading and cutting.

The machine’s initial focus will be finishing parts for defense programs, but will also support programs supplying manufacturers in glass, food processing, oil and gas, pumps and valves, and specialized hardware markets.

“We are excited to expand and strengthen our capabilities with the addition of the DN Solutions HC 400 II. The dual pallets allow us to load the machine while its cutting – reducing our lead times to customers,” stated machine shop manager Rick Wolbert.

The Franklin, PA, foundry produces standard and custom stainless steel, nickel, cobalt, brass, bronze, and Ni-Hard alloy investment castings supplied for pumps and valve manufacturing, oil and gas production, mining, steelmaking, among other sectors.
