Digital and X-ray inspection of castings is growing exponentially as foundries and diecasters seek to conform to customers’ quality standards, and to insure the value of their own investments in high quality production. Digital X-ray casting inspections can be completed faster with a new software filter developed by GE Sensing & Inspection Technologies. Flash! filters optimize images faster, meaning that image enhancements are ready sooner and overall inspection workflow is faster.
Flash! filters perform “one-click image optimization” via a plug-in module for GE’s Rhythm suite of software programs for X-ray inspection, including computed radiography, digital radiography, and film digitization.
In addition to casting inspection, Flash! Filters are available for inspecting welds (weldments and castings being two standard applications for digital X-ray inspection.) Following the DICONDE standard, Flash! filters are applied as layers on the image, giving operators the ability to always revert to the raw image, ensuring reliability of the data.
“We analyzed hundreds of weld and casting images from various scanners, sources and environment conditions to develop the most optimized solution, providing the fastest image enhancement while decreasing analysis time,” said Rick Cuscino, product manager for digital conversion at GE Sensing & Inspection Technologies.
