Furnace Builder Adds Chip Processing Expertise

Dec. 10, 2024
Vacuum metallurgy system developer Retech is incorporating ReMelt Scientific, a specialty developer of material handling and waste reprocessing equipment for recycled tailings, scrap, and revert.

Melting furnace manufacturer Retech has acquired ReMelt Scientific, an Ohio-based engineering business that works with other suppliers to implement customized chip processing systems, notably for aluminum wheel manufacturing operations.

Retech supplies vacuum metallurgy systems for melting and refining reactive and refractory metals. ReMelt specializes in material handling and waste reprocessing equipment for “ultra-pure remelt of recycled tailings, scrap, and revert,” and the combination is meant to bring together technical expertise for the benefit of customers.

According to Seco/Warwick Group, of which Retech is an operating unit, the purchase “marks a significant step in rounding out the Seco/Warwick products and services portfolio.

“This strategic move enables both the vacuum and aluminum melting divisions to offer even more comprehensive process solutions upstream and downstream of the melting processes,” Seco stated.
